We are not communicating well. Sorry, I should be more
verbose. I assumed you already knew this because you wrote
extconf.rb. :-)

mkmf.log is exconf.rb version of config.log. When you run
'ruby extconf.rb', it logs tests and results into mkmf.log.
The content of that file would make debugging much easier.
