Thanks for your reply.

I've haven't changed the default setting (they are still exactly the same as shown in the help).

Second I don't want to use other tools, just the 'Compare Tool' in TortoiseSVN, because it functions perfectly.

However I'd love it when it could be started by double clicking an updated item in the 'update' dialog.
Now I need to right click on the item and select 'Compare with working copy'.
The current double click action is the open the file using the - by Windows extension - associated program.

I can provide some screen shots to display the flow, but don't know where to send them.
