The 32-bit/64-bit divide

I need more than 4GB RAM, so use 64-bit Windows 7. An increasing number of systems are shipping out with the 64-bit Windows as default. But it is not the most pleasant one to live with due to the 32-bit/64-bit divide.
Most applications are 32-bit. Even when 64-bit versions are available most add-ons, tools are 32-bit. So one is stuck with 32-bit applications in a 64-bit OS. Expect this to be the case for at least a few years.
Since most applications are 32-bit, I need the 32-bit TortoiseSVN. However the Windows explorer is 64-bit.
When I downloaded and installed the 32-bit version, the context menu was missing SVN commands. A few uninstall-reinstall cycles did not have any effect. A few hours of work and figured out that the default in 64-bit Windows is 64-bit Explorer. The 32-bit version is at C:\Windows\SysWOW64\explorer.exe and doesn't always open the 32-bit Explorer!!
Unfortunately this is the case with my installation. I need the 64-bit TortoiseSVN to use the Explorer interface and any 64-bit applications and the 32-bit TortoiseSVN for 32-bit applications and 32-bit Explorer.
May I suggest the following?
