You mean to put another item on the context menu whose sole purpose is
to check out a specific repository?

IMHO, this would be clutter and a waste. People who want to work on
the code will know where to look for it and check it out themselves.
Those who don't will just be annoyed by yet another context menu item.
I fail to see how it will get more developers involved. I have enough
trouble getting semi-technical people to understand working copies vs.
the repository, throwing yet another item on the menu and then telling
everyone "just ignore that, you'll never want to use it, pretend it's
not there" (or having to configure their workstations to hide it)
would just add to the troubles.

But I could be wrong.
