We don't use automatic checking of the repository, so I hadn't
considered that case. TSVN does say "Please wait." maybe "Checking
repository, please wait." would be better.
Combining your and my ideas, how about:
"No uncommitted modifications. To show remote modifications, click
'check repository'."
(The "empty" part is what I am told is confusing. I suppose it might
be less confusing if the title of the dialog included "Check for
modifiations"
