This seems to be a natural. After all, something's going on. I think that
it's best when the dialog has focus to hourglass it.

Who says windows is correct in its behavior? Microsoft?

Fine. Then the dialog need not provide a (large) blank area below and
righward of the animated icon. Or perhaps the large blank area ought to say
"Cleanup in progress...".
