subclipse/subversion under linux

.. a never ending story.

I have upgraded to 0.9.33, adn am trying to install subversion 1.2.3 under
Linux. What an exercise. I did this sucessfully for the previous version, but
here I am stuck again.

When I invoke "make javahl", I get an error

make: *** no rule to build target
»/home/cse/work/subversion/subversion-1.2.3/subversion/bindings/java/javahl/src/org/tigris/subversion/javahl/SVNInputStream.java«,
  required by
»subversion/bindings/java/javahl/classes/org/tigris/subversion/javahl/DirEntry.class«

when I look into the downloaded subversion archive, I see 2 directories with
java code, one called "subversion", one called "subversion-1.2.3". Both have
the same directory structure, but different contents.

I am posting this here, because the requirement for JavaHL is imposed by
subclipse. Any help??
