wow, I have just looked into this further and found that it seems to be a
peculiarity with the mc ("Midnight Commander") file manager tool. When I use it
to browse (or extract) the contents of the tarball, it shows the 2 directories
mentioned. If I unpack from the commandline, theres only one directory
containing all files.
