It's probably reasonable to file an issue if you don't get a response on
the dev list.

The way Debian handles this (as I understand it) is that users can file
"release-critical" bug reports. Before a release is cut, developers
have to look at all the release-critical bugs and either address them or
decide that they're not really release-critical.
