The errors I've mentioned in the previous post were being thrown both
through the shell (linux) and TortoiseSVN (windows).

At the moment I can't provide more information, as I've been
experiencing these problems with a SVN repository at my workplace and I
wasn't able to replicate these issues on a test repository created locally.

It's quite possibly that the errors I was stumbling on had absolutely
nothing to do with plus signs in directory names. I'll report back if I
manage to replicate this issue or if I stumble abain on one of those
error messages.
