OK, I *had* to start reading about SS2005 and other M$ technologies a few
days ago, so I am a n00b here, this was just a random idea ;-)

That is a cool idea, you can try it for sure. Even if the DB in question is
mission critical, make a copy (replication) and set that off-line while doing
backup.
