Probably other newbies will get burnt by this.Absolutely.Seems to me that web page needs to be fixed.Inexplicably, that never gets done. If you want to see the previous discussion on this issue, see this: http://svn.haxx.se/dev/archive-2004-10/0701.shtml And the continuation: http://svn.haxx.se/dev/archive-2004-12/1126.shtmlI'm not tigris.org's maintainer, but I work for them. An internal issue is already filed about the searches being broken. In the meantime, the list descriptions for the users@ and dev@ list had text saying to use the haxx.se archives for searching. I've changed that text to be in all-caps, with stars around it, so it's more likely to be noticed. The reason I can't just eliminate the search box, or make more extensive changes to the page, is that they are servlet-generated and I do not have access to the servlets; in fact, I don't even have login access to the server. There's a long, detailed procedure for making one-off customizations to the site, and we've been reluctant to do that because then we'd have to maintain the customization through upgrades, remember to undo it when the issue is resolved etc. (Yes, I know all these are solveable problems -- I'm not claiming the process would be impossible, just very difficult, so have opted to make more prominent notices in the list descriptions instead).
