Yes:

I read about the meta-data patch/branch, but due to older (sometimes heated)
discussions about its inclusiong into main line I was under the impression
that this approach had been dismissed and wasn't pursued any further. I was
probably wrong and should have looked at it more closely. I'd have been
nice if I would have been able to use my distribution's unmodified svn
packages, but incorporating an additional patch is also ok.

Thanks a lot for the hint! :-)

fsvs needs a very short, very high level discription of the idea behind it.
At least this is my impression after reading about it.

From what I extracted from the available documentation, fsvs automagically
versions all files not explicitely matched by ignore-patterns in a whole FS
subtree and is meant to be used to manage whole system installations,
right?

In this case it's probably not exactly what I want, as I want to manage a
subtree using SVN which will also contain quite a few unmanaged files and
subtrees and I'd prefer to actively add files to and remove from version
management.

Thanks a lot for your hints!

Greetings,

  Gunter
