How do I know what repository is mapped to what directory on the server?

I am new to the whole SVN thing, but I am wondering, where does the main
website look to know what repository to update from? We have several
checkouts for different versions of our site, which seem to update to
different directories on the server. How do I know what repository is
mapped to what directory? Is it in a config file somewhere?
