Alternative for svn mv command?

From: Tomas Gonzalez <tegonzalez_at_gmail.com>

Would it be better to have the svn mv command default to using a svn
cp orig new followed by a svn rm orig, rather than add & delete? For
branching and merging, it is best to maintain the full history of the
file so that branches can be logically integrated. (ie. perforce
methodology) If the renamed file is deleted and re-added, it looses
its ancestry...
