Not me, but I'd look in your kernel logs on your Linux box
for smbfs (assuming that's what you're using) errors.
Have you tried copying any other large amounts of data
to the mount point to see if the problem is unrelated
to the hot-backup program?
I can't really see any way in which the hot-backup command
should be able to affect a mount point like this. I'd go
looking for Samba/smbfs level errors. If there is a bug in
smbfs, you might need to resort to ftp or rsync to put the
files on the AS/400 box.
