APR has (had?) a constraint of < 2Gigs per file.
(I found this out with apache and trying to serve up a distributions DVD
release).

Other than that I'm not aware of a constraint. Are you going through
Apache or using one of the svn://|file:// protocols?

That's really the only cause I can think of, maybe someone else has a
better answer.
