Patrick,
AFAIK the "Run..." prompt does not launch with admin privileges by
default. If you enter Regedit and then hit Ctrl-Shift-Enter instead of
OK only then do you get the UAC prompt before starting the command in
admin mode. Please could you retest and see if this makes a
difference.

I just added your method to the FAQ but if you can get this
alternative method to work instead then it would be much better.
