How do I move repositories?

I got a bunch of file to make a local copy of a site, it turns out tortoise
still wants it to link to the RELEASE version of the site, I don't want
this. I want to to link to a local repository on my computer. is there any
way to do this. I created a new repository but when I try to relocate it
there it says the uuid's don't match. I franklly don't care and don't
understand why it does. Is there a way to get it commiting to my local
computer. Baring that how do I tell tortoise to stop versioning it so I can
then attach it where I want it to be.
