Newbie problem

First I have read the manual but have not found an answer.
I set up Tortoise Repository in a folder in "My Documents" and it worked
fine for the last year or so. I bought a new machine and thought I would
install the repository on an external drive. It was easy to set up a
repository on the external drive using the menu "Create Repository here" but
I could not work out how to get the version to save into the new repository.
I played with Import but could not get that to work due to some path problem
I think. The external drive folder is called "10.0.0.4/Public Disk 2/SVN".
I tried file:///10.0.0.4/Public Disk 2/SVN but it told me it was not a valid
location.
I thought relocate looked promising, but when I right click on the old svn
directory, I do not get a Tortoise menu.
Can someone point a newbie in the right direction please.
