I'm missing something very important: you never mentioned how the UI
would look like. For example: where would a user specify the other
urls?

And I'm starting to think that it's not really the log dialog you want
but the revision graph of the item. In there, you can also show all
revisions (not just the copy revs) and also see the log messages.
