You would do well to explain to the managers of your closed (or is it
classified? ;) ) network that your SVN clients *must* all use the same
version of the client library, or you can't get your work done. Work
with them to come up with an upgrade or downgrade plan and stick with it.

This is exactly what the team charged with determining which SCM to use
after we moved from SourceSafe did. It worked *really* well for us. Bite
the bullet and work with your IT staff to hammer out a coherent SVN
client upgrade path. You'll be *very* glad that you did.
