Save Authentication does not seem to work

I'm using the free version of VisualSVN Server and running TortoiseSVN
on Windows XP SP3. Connection to Subversion is done over SSL with self-
issued certificate using Windows Basic authentication. When I attempt
to perform any change in the repository (such as commit), I get the
Authenticate dialog. I enter my credentials and check the Save
Authentication box, but the next time I try to perform another change,
I get the authentication prompt again. I don't seem to have this
problem when using Subversion from JDeveloper, though, so I'm
wondering if this is some configuration setting that I need to change.
