can't open \save\.svn\tmp: access denied

Hi there,
I have a problem updating my local copy from the repository using TSVN
1.6.5 on Windows XP. I created the problem by deleting two .Old files
locally. And now it will not update, saying the directory is locked (which
is not). When I try to 'clean up', there is an error message on the top
directory 'xxx\setup\.svn\tmp\prop-base\: Access is denied'. When I try to
'clean up' the sub-directory where the deleted files were, there is an
error message on this directory 'can't open \save\.svn\tmp: Access is
denied'.
I am not sure how to solve this problem. Do I need to delete everything
and check out a fresh copy from the repository again?
Many thanks for any suggestions! And more details in the solution will be
highly appreciated, as I am very new to SVN.

Thanks!
Lynne
