Default Log Message, Per Computer

I use several computers and it is sometimes helpful to know which change was made on which computer. I would like the commit message to default to text stored locally on each computer, for my use the computer name in parenthesis. I have searched the docs, faqs and archives and it appears "log message templates" might be the answer. But this feature seems so simple that I think I have missed the obvious solution.
