Unable to find repository location/TSVN 1.4.8/SVN 1.4.3

When I try to compare two revisions using TortoiseSVN, and I look at the
diff for one of the changed files, I get the error

"Unable to find repository location for (URL and filename) in revision N."

N is the second revision - I'm comparing between r42 and r45, so it's
complaining about r45. If I switch the direction of the diff, it complains
about r42.

To Reproduce:

Right click the WC folder and select Show Log.
Select the log entries for the two revisions, in my case, r42 and r45.
Right click on one of the log entries and choose Compare Revisions.
This brings up the Changed Files window.
Right click on one of the text files in the list of changed files and select
Compare Revisions. This produces the error message.

This operation works successfully on some files and some revisions in the
repository, but not on all of them.

What I've done so far:

I ran svnadmin verify against the repository, and it reports that all
revisions are OK.

Checking out the branch and revision using the native SVN client works.

The native client can produce a unified diff, and show the diffs for the
specific file correctly.

Removing and checking out a fresh WC with TSVN doesn't fix the problem.

I can't find any errors in the server's system logs, and the hardware RAID
array reports that the disks are healthy.

I've Googled and checked TSVN vs. SVN compatibility and haven't found
anything that helps me understand the issue. I'm starting my question here
because the native client appears to work, and because we use only TSVN in
our daily work. Whatever we broke, we did it with TSVN and not some other
client.

Environment:

SVN 1.4.3 running on Fedora Core 6
TSVN 1.4.8
