Windows Explorer very very slow

I recently updated to version 1.51. After updating, I forgot to reboot. A few days later I did some SVN activity, forgetting about rebooting, and got in a very bad state. After rebooting things went from bad to worse. I uninstalled SVN and windows explorer was back to normal. However after re-installing SVN, windows explorer once again went to the super slow mode.

A windows explorer will pop right up on activation, however upon selecting a drive letter it appears to lock up for about 3 to 5 minutes. It will peg CPU for about 1/4 of this time, but then CPU goes to nothing but update of the explorer does not happen for a long time after.

Is there any registry settings or other files that I might clean up to resolve this issue?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions that you might have!
