Question about "commit" not committing everything

From: Lasse Vågsæther Karlsen <lasse_at_vkarlsen.no>

Today I upgraded to tortoisesvn 1.4.4 and started to commit a large
directory to a
local file-system-based repository.

The directory contains just above 9000 files in total, of various sizes, in
total about 233mb.
Not everything is text. The directory contains a lot of world of warcraft
addons that I wanted
to test SVN with because I've experienced the problem in this email before
and wanted to
just use a big directory with lots of files to try to provoke the problem
and see if it was still there.

Seems it is.

After first checking out the empty project I created in subversion to the
directory, I did a commit
and in the dialog I asked it to select everything and typed in a comment.

I hit OK, and ... 14 files are committed.

Thinking that I must've not selected everything, I re-tried it, making 100%
sure I now selected
everything, including verifying by scrolling through the list, and clicked
ok.

Another 50 or so files committed.

The third time about 2500-3000 files commit. I'm typing this email while I
commit the fourth time.

The fourth time I captured with Camtasia Studio just to make sure people
believed me. Since the host of
my web server is down for the 5th day in a row, I won't post it anywhere but
I'll happily send
it by email to anyone that wants to see the problem manifestation. If the
web server comes
back up I'll post it and reply with a link. The video is a 2MB .wmv file.

The program just ends the commit with a message like if it was complete and
successful, ie.
"Completed At revision: 6". The bottom of the progress window in
the video file ends
with "Added: 81". Even though the initial commit dialog listed
"5733 files selected, 5733 files total". The commit dialog now shows 5652
and I'll
postpone trying to commit more times in case someone has an idea what I can
try.

Is there anything I can look for? configuration problem? error messages or a
log somewhere?

I have checked the installation directory for error logs, the application
data, local settings, etc.
also checked the event logs for application and system, nothing there
either.
