I was thinking that while the checkbox might still be available, that the configuration setting would override this and prevent saving. I tested this and was surprised to learn that I was mistaken. As far as I can tell, setting the "store-passwords" and "store-auth-creds" to "no" seems to have no effect with Tortoise. Authentication appears to be saved in spite of the configuration file settings. Perhaps someone else can shed some light on this.
