TSvnCache hammers my harddrive when I delete a file

Whenever I delete a file, anywhere on my hard drive and irrespective of
whether or not that file is checked in to a subversion repository,
TSvnCache.exe thrashes and leaves my computer unusable for about 5
seconds. I'd be happy to help diagnose the problem if I at all can.

In the mean time, is it possible to disable the cache? I know that it's
theoretically a wonderful thing, but it really hurts my productivity at
times, to the point where I frequently suspend its process when I don't
strictly need it. I had a look on the web for info on disabling the
cache, but the only info I could find was a response to a similar
question stating 'it's a good thing, really, you should use it
regardless of its flaws.'
