This is a common misunderstanding among non native English speakers (as I am
myself). The english 'is' can imply an action that is still taking place as
well as an action that has been completed. Therefor if an English person
tells you something is done you are never sure if it is currently being done
or has been done already :-)

The current wording is correct and the 'please wait' implies the action is
still taking place.
