I tried to reproduce this with 1.4.99, r9711 but it works correctly here:
After calling "Delete (keep local)" on a folder all files and folders below
are marked as "deleted" in the commit dialog but the files are still there.
I don't get any error message.

Could you try to narrow this down. Maybe you have some special kind of
directory layout.
