I'm also a bit hesitant about it. But I do think it would be valuable to
somehow see what folders that haven't been fully fetched yet.

I don't think that would be a good idea. I was thinking about that
before proposing the "ghost folder"-approach, but using a single
indication for two states is too confusing imho...

Another possibility however is to add a third state except for [+] and
[-] (maybe something like [o]) that would indicate a not fully fetched
folder. This is actually my preferred solution, but I guess that would
mean a lot more effort in modifying the control to allow this.
