It's rather harmless, and you're probably going to need it in the
future. So the most obvious thing to do would be to convince those in
charge of IT installations that it's a good idea to install MSI 3?

Since you have administrative rights, it seems that it's only the
formality of getting the EXE from Microsoft that is the problem.
Couldn't that be overcome with an USB flash stick?
