And my point was that adding an extra context menu for the global
patterns would be just cluttering the UI with one more entry in the
menu, and of course completely confuse the users.

And that's still the preferred way of ignoring stuff. Otherwise, *you*
might have ignored some files, but the others working on the same
project might not. And that's when you get into trouble (i.e. adding
files that should be ignored to version control).

As I said: adding the ignore context menu to the add dialog is not
much work. I'll do it when I get home.

But users don't know what's the difference. They just want to ignore
stuff, they don't care how it's done. So having two different ways to
ignore stuff in the same dialog will just confuse the users.
