May I suggest you checked all the places in your code you are accessing
TYMED_HGLOBALs just in case there are similar problems elsewhere? (looks
like tortoiseCVS is suffering from the same problem too)

If your code doesn't assume anything about how many levels the GetPIDLFolder
and GetPIDLItem pilds contain and merges them properly (i.e. not assuming
that folder will be the desktop or the item will be a local single level
pidl), then there shouldn't be any problems
