I just installed 1.2.4 myself (usually I don't have the release versions
installed but the debug versions). No problems. Shell extension is
registered correctly and available.

I don't know what you did to cause that. Please uninstall whatever
version you have installed, reboot. Then install 1.2.4, and reboot again.
