[TSVN] Fixing the "ticks" that appear on windows icons

Dear tortoise-dev,

I am very impressed with Tortoise but not a windows expert.

I have managed to replace the green tick that appears in the corner of
each uptodate checked out file, with what looks like the Excel icon.
(Excel was going through its "please wait installing" phase which
happens when it seems to have lost some components and suddenly ! - it
is a work laptop on loan)

Rebooting the PC does not fix it. I have not yet tried reinstalling
tortoise, which should help but I am now intrigued. What settings are
used to put the tick on each icon and how can I set it back please?

Please cc to paul1brian at gmail.com - thank you.

notes
--------

thank you
