I'm guessing the problem is dependent upon the Eclipse platform
version, though I've not been able to eliminate all variables.

No NullPointerException on:

* Linux + Eclipse 3.1.0 (GTK) + JDK 1.5.0_05-b05 + Subclipse 0.9.108
* Linux + Eclipse 3.1.0 (GTK) + JDK 1.5.0_05-b05 + Subclipse 1.0.1
(Eclipse Build I20050627-1435)

NullPointerException occurs:

* Win32 + RSD 6.0.1 (~ Eclipse 3.0.2) + JRE 1.4.2 IBM J9 2.2 +
Subclipse 1.0.1 (Win32 Fragment 1.0.1)
(Eclipse Build I20040619-2000)

This is unfortunate as we're stuck using RSD for some of our
development work. (Actually, being forced to use RSD & RM is
unfortunate regardless of how well or poorly Sublcipse works with it,
but that's another topic entirely.)

Any ideas for workaround, other than abandoning svn:externals entirely
(which I can do, but I'd rather not)?
