Yes, the option to use the command line adapter has been removed. Given
your access method, I would recommend using JavaSVN.

As to the passwords, my guess is that you have the username and password
stored with your connection and are experiencing the problem described in
this FAQ:

http://subclipse.tigris.org/faq.html#passwords

If this is the case, you should be able to blank out the saved username
and password, or create a new connection (which will no longer give you
the option).
