Hi Konstantin.  That 'mailinglists' page says the Subject line should be non-empty; it doesn't say anything about the message body.  Are you sure there's a spam filter that rejects messages with an empty body?

Philip has now added a note about the Subject line (and HTML formatting).

I made the following changes on <http://subversion.apache.org/mailing-lists.html>:

  * on each 'subscribe' line in the table, append "?subject=subscribe" to the URL, to cause the local mail program to pre-fill the Subject header when composing the email.

  * add an 'unsubscribe' line for each list in the table, just after the 'subscribe' line, and in the same style.

I think we should also:

  * state that after sending a 'subscribe' or 'unsubscribe' email, the user will receive and must respond to a confirmation email.

  * Link to the ASF Mailing Lists page you mentioned, where more detailed information can be found. (Then we perhaps wouldn't have to spell out the details so much.)

Sound good?
