I don't think brane was talking about audit trails
when he made the distinction between "verbose logging"
and "debug logging". You are making the distinction
between tracing (verbose or not) and audit trails
(which usually has business meaning/impact)

Verbose logging != audit trails.

Your examples include "user logged in" and "user
logged out." These are usually just part of trace
logging, not something I would put into the audit log
(but that depends on the app)

Better audit trail examples are "user X changed the
status of the change request to 'open'" or "teller X
credited account Y with $Z"
