FWIW, the Perl bindings still don't build in a VPATH setup (source dir !=
build dir). Ben Reser took a quick look at it, but he got into a twisty maze
of Perl wonkiness. I've got an uncompleted patch from him that gets perl
fairly close to building, but isn't complete (some minor local mods on top of
his).

I'm not sure if Ben plans to pick it up or not... -- justin
