This appears to be a "do it in the middle" idea, and subject to all
the objections thereunto.

It also appears to be using "ver" where it means "rev" (versions
being deltas of particular files, whereas revisions are deltas of the
whole repo).

What is this "!svn" thing, anyway? I've seen it once or twice, but
was not aware it was any sort of standard or consensus.
