Dang. This is tough, then. The situation available to us now is not
the one that caused the bug. An incorrect checksum got recorded for a
text base at some point in time, but we don't know exactly when or
how. All we know is that it was an old client (r4259), which is
mildly reassuring, in that we know a lot of checksum stuff has changed
since then.

I'm frankly not sure how to proceed. I still have John Belmonte's
checksum bug, which might be related. I'm going to try looking at
that, since there's a better chance of reproducing, I guess.
