After having used Visual Studio .NET for the last couple days, I am all
in favor of dropping project files and just building from makefiles on
windows too. Any objections to generating windows makefiles instead of
project files?

After a half decent Visual Studio 6, I thought Visual Studio .NET might
be better. I couldn't have been more wrong...
