I think the thunderous silence was only because the proposal is
basically what Greg Stein (and possibly) others are also proposing.
Though we'd have to use something other "annotate", of course --
there's a bit of history on that word from CVS :-).

To the degree that it's specific, the proposal sounds good to me.
There's obviously a lot of detail to work out, and since we're not
writing the feature right now, that design work has been postponed
till later.
