I think either there or doc tree is okay; there are good arguments in
favor of both and against either, so I follow Mike's lead and wash my
hands of the matter. :-)

Just as a side note, I started out wondering "Gosh, do we really want
to maintain a separate man page, when a lot of its content will be
duplicated in the main user manual?" But then I thought, yes, we do.
The `man' system is still a standard, people expect to get basic usage
information from running `man svn', and it can always point to the
main documentation for more in-depth explanations. So that's a sort
of preemptive justification for having a man page, in case anyone was
about to raise that particular objection.

Don't know anything about generating nroff/man format from some other
master format. Perhaps someone else on the list has experience with
this?
