I should note that in the example I posted:

Revision 1: fresh greek tree

Revision 2: added some text to 'iota'

Revision 3: for every dir and file in the tree (except the root node),
            I added a property named 'my_name' that contained the
            path to that node. That is, `svn pl A/D/gamma' yeilds
            `my_name : ./A/D/gamma'

My first update was from r1 -> r3, then back again.
