ok, you've got me convinced ;-)

i'll work up another patch, then if people feel like debating the
point they can just chose between them..

(you know if i had just seen this side of the argument before
implemnting the other side, it would have saved me a long debugging
session... of course in that case i wouldn't know nearly as much
about how the client works as i do now, so i guess we're even ;-)
